Understanding dental implants.................

by dr avinash

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in your jawbone to support replacement teeth or a bridge. They are typically made of titanium and look like small screws.

The implant is placed into your jawbone and then allowed to fuse with the bone over a period of several months. This process is called osseointegration and it creates a strong foundation for the replacement teeth.

Once the implant has fused with the jawbone, a small connector called an abutment is attached to the top of the implant. This abutment serves as a connection point for the replacement tooth or bridge.

Finally, a custom-made replacement tooth or bridge is attached to the abutment. This replacement tooth or bridge is designed to look and function just like your natural teeth.

Dental implants are a popular option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to injury, periodontal disease, or other reasons. They are a durable and long-lasting solution that can restore your smile and improve your ability to chew and speak.
